This discussion is directed to our stories honoring the South-East.

We begin our journey around the Circle traveling sun-wise, following the natural flow of Nature around us. When the sun rose in the east, we noted that the beginning of the day was intuitively like the emerging of Spring and the beginning of the cycle of the year. As the sun must travel across the southern sky (from our Northern Hemisphere perspective), so too must the year progress from Spring into Summer.

Between the sunrise and noon, where the sun is at it's highest point in the sky, and between spring and summer,(what we will call the south) much happens. Once the plants emerge from their dormancy there seems to be an explosion-like release of energy that makes everything grow in expedience and expectancy. The dull and drab take on new colour, everything develops rapidly with fresh, delicate foliage. Flowers seem to pop-up everywhere. The air is fresh and fragrant and full of birdsong and courtship.

Then, with gradual, almost imperceptable changes, there is a shift. The morning chorus gradually wanes as the birds get on with feeding, and grooming themselves. The earliest and most delicate flowers begin to fade, the smallest insects and preditiors emerge to feast on flora and fauna, and of course in the spring, storms with heavy rains, hail and high wind threaten the landscape and the very existence of life seems to be in peril.

The South-East of the day and the year bring rapid external growth and delicate beauty and also bring an energy that seems to want to stop the flow of life and put an end to the journey around the Circle. It is here where we marvel at the awesome power of nature, but also must prepare for and have strategies to keep the energy flowing in the right direction.

Let us share what comes to mind.
