Years ago I sat with Gilbert Walking Bull for a weekend learning about the sweat lodge. He gave a lesson that was not a lesson. While others talked he listened with his eyes shut. At times while talk when on, he seemed asleep, he wasn't. He was totally tuned in and really listening. It is a lesson I carry with me.

What was it he shared about the lodge.I'll listen with my eyes shut but I'll be paying atention .I would love to here Gelberts words as you herd them.How was the time you spent with him.You had a great priviledege being with him.I'm will listen.

Gilbert did that often. The big question was, what was he listening too? Was it the activity in the room? Or was he listening to spirit? If he was listening to spirit, how did he do it? If anyone's got the answer to that one I would love to hear it.
