Hey Charlie,

I am back from my time off and back at it. I posted a picture of a wild carrot that I was hoping you could help me to identify. Thank you - Paul

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the Yo! Summer has been full of exercise, family, work, and internetting for a nature school. There seem to be more nature schools in the states. But I recently contacted CanAdventure in BC. They have a program titled Hero's Quest. It really makes me smile. There are many exciting possibilities and I'm learning a lot about the different types of schools.

Any suggestions? How is your summer?
Becky

Hello Charlie, looks like we're east coast neighbors! I have been exploring my sit spot, though I admit I have a "beter" one further from my house I went with the one at the edge of my yard. I have found many deer tracks and have heard them, they bed down in the brush. I had the raccoon darn near sit in my lap. But it is hard to see through the brush, so I go to the further away at times to explore and get good views. It's on the edge of a "meadow". really it is a clearing created by the tornado 2 years ago, not a common weather occurance in NH. I see deer, coyote and all sorts of birds there. I knoow managing 2 sit spots is not ideal, but I know when I am back teaching in the fall, the "better" place will not be visited every day. I am trying to learn birds and plants this summer, a tall order for sure. I am immerssed in kamana 2 as well. Wish me luck! Thank you for welcoming me.

Hello, Charlie, and thank you so much for offering your energies of helping in finding out what weed it is that I have growing in our yard. Okay, so it wasn't Thistle -- though over the years we have had lots of Blessed Thistle growing here, but I found the same plant along the roadsides that have bloomed and I found the pic on the web of what they are: Chicory! Here is a pic of it that I just love that I found on the internet. My next step is learning about it, for I have seen it many years and have never looked into the actual learning of the plant and its qualities and such.

Hugs for a wonderful Sunday to you!

P.S. I also had responded a few days back at this post you made, thank you so much for the beginning steps in observing a plant, with much gratitude!!!

Hello, Charlie -- thank you much for the warm welcome here, it was very nice of you to stop by my page;) My name is Mona, and I live back in the woodsy area of Michigan. We have many plants and weeds and flowers and such that I have yet to discover here (I like to work on my own Land, since there are lots to explore and many Spirits that roam here) -- for my fiance and I have just moved back into the home that I grew up in that I always had played on as a child and went exploring with my mom when she was alive.

There has been a prickly tall weed that has been growing in our yard, we have several of them, and I believe that it is that of 'Blessed Thistle' -- which I have currently been seeing a lot of on the web when I browse around! I am in the makings of finding a Field Guide for Michigan Plants, a book preferably, for beginning my Wildcrafting outside here -- so now, I only have internet access for resources here, other than the library, which is right down the main stretch of street from us. They have an old selection of Reference books, so maybe I can also take a day to go there and look around too;)

It's nice meeting you, and hope to get to know you better here in the near future!

Hugs,
~Shamanic Winds)O(

I am starting a new chapter of my life with a focus on children/outdoor education/science. I have been a microbiologist in a hospital for the past 7 years which has developed my left brain but now I would like to utilize all of my skills to get involved in public outreach. I am self-studying to become a high school biology teacher in a disadvantaged school (taking the CSETs). I am currently trying to get the heavily guarded public land around Santa Barbara more family friendly. Thank you for your interest.

Pretty cold yesterday, but not a single flake here, Charlie. My daughter's farm in Vermont got a few inches & a lot of cold though, so they had to bring the sheep & their new lambs in from the field.
