So I have to say that it seems that since doing my weekly inventories (I am finishing up Kamana 2), I totally have been more genuinely interested in spending time at my secret spot (rather than doing it because I am supposed to) and being outside in…

It took a week or two for my stuff to get to me and the mail tends to be a little slow around the holidays!

Programs/classes you've taken with Wilderness Awareness School?
Finished Kamana One and just starting Kamana Two.
Hello! I just finished Kamana One and am starting Kamana Two. I'm a Michigander and love being outside. We camp, backpack, mountian bike, & run - anything that gets me out-of-doors. The whole sitting still and getting to know one place is new to me, but I'm super excited to give it a try. I'm a School of Natural Resources and Environment (University of Michigan) grad and teach Environmental Science and Biology at my local high school. I love teaching & learning - I just finished my masters in Science Ed and got to take all sorts of cool field courses, including two on Isle Royale National Park. The Kamana Program seems perfect since it helps guide my outdoors exploration, but in a non-traditional way. I have the benefit of having a state park at the end of my block (although I live in a pretty suburban neighborhood) so my sit-spot in just inside the park (and just down the street!). I'm definitely looking for other people who are in the midst of the Kamana program to share my ups and downs with - so leave me a message if you are interested in helping each other out! :)

I can help you explore your spot if you get stumped on something that you observe. You have access to great resources through UM. Thanks for sharing your sit spot observations online.

What's in the thick understory besides the Poison Ivy?
